Under the aegis of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and Madhya Pradesh Police, Sangini Gender Resource Centre conducted a Safe Auto Campaign in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The objective of the campaign was to increase sensitivity amongst auto drivers regarding women passengers.
In this regard auto drivers in the prominent areas of Bhopal were regularly counselled to show sensitivity towards women passengers. They were asked to display the helpline number and to wear the uniform. They were also provided uniforms so that they can be easily identified. Regular awareness sessions were also organised with the auto drivers so that they give preference to safety of women and girls.
For their efforts these auto drivers receive prizes and recognition from Sangini, tourism board and the police. This campaign is focused on ensuring the safety of women passengers and making the auto drivers sensitive and aware.
