One-Day Workshop on Digital Violence Against Women and Girls

On the occasion of International Violence Against Women Day, and under the Safe Spaces for Women Project, Sangini organised a one-day workshop on “Digital Violence Against Women and Girls” on 25 November 2025. The workshop was inaugurated by the Director of Sangini, Ms. Prarthana Mishra, who highlighted the growing importance of digital safety and awareness for women and girls.

The workshop was attended by distinguished guests, including District Judge Shri Sunil Agrawal, Additional DCP Ms. Rashmi Agrawal Dubey, Gender Consultant Shri Alok, Director of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board Dr. D. P. Singh, TI Ms. Sapna Pathak from the Cyber Cell, Inspector Ms. Rama Meshram, Shri Himanshu Dixit from the Cyber Police Station, and Shri Suresh Ji.

Participants included para-legal workers, women from the Shakti Core Group, women associated with Srijan, Tourist Facilitation Centres (TFC), and other skill-training programmes, along with members of the Sangini team.

The speakers engaged in detailed discussions on domestic violence, digital violence, and women’s safety. Shri Alok spoke about positive social changes and emphasised the importance of empowering girls to become self-reliant and capable of self-protection, while maintaining caution in digital spaces.

District Judge Shri Sunil Agrawal elaborated on the role of the judiciary in addressing violence against women. He shared information about One Stop Centres and the 15100 helpline, and addressed questions raised by participants.

Dr. D. P. Singh highlighted the importance of women’s education, safety, and empowerment, stressing that violence must be prevented from its very onset. TI Ms. Sapna Pathak from the Cyber Cell cautioned participants about digital crimes such as financial fraud, fake profiles, online scams, and misuse of photographs, and shared information about the 1930 Cyber Crime Helpline.

Shri Himanshu Dixit introduced participants to key digital platforms such as cybercrime.gov.in, the Citizen Incident Reporting (CIR) portal, and Sanchar Saathi. He also provided practical guidance on avoiding loan app fraud and video call scams.

Additional DCP Ms. Rashmi Agrawal Dubey discussed the Domestic Violence Act, 2005, the Urja Desk, and various forms of digital violence. She emphasised the need to educate children and girls on digital safety and empower them to confidently say “no” in unsafe situations.

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Prarthana Mishra, who expressed gratitude to all the guests and participants for their valuable contributions and active engagement.
